Gail
S. Pursel
Gail practices primarily in the
area of workers' compensation
defense, representing employers
throughout Southwest Georgia.
She is also a part-time faculty
member at Darton College, where
she teaches in the paralegal
program. She is active at her
church, Covenant Presbyterian,
in community organizations, such
as The Parks at Chehaw, and in
the local bar association. Gail
previously served on the Board
of Directors of the Southwest
Georgia Alzheimer's Association.
In her free time, Gail enjoys
outdoor activities with her
husband and young daughter.
A native of Athens, Georgia,
Gail was born in 1960. She
earned her Bachelor of Arts
degree, magna cum laude, and a
Certificate in Global Studies
from the University of Georgia
in 1983 where she was a member
of Phi Beta Kappa . She received
her Juris Doctorate degree from
the University of Georgia in
1986. While in law school at the
University, she was a member of
the Jessup International Law
Moot Court Team and the Georgia
Journal of International and
Comparative Law. Gail was
admitted to the Georgia Bar in
1986. She is admitted to
practice in the U.S. District
Court, Middle District of
Georgia, the Georgia Court of
Appeals and the Georgia Supreme
Court. She is a member of
the Dougherty Circuit Bar
Association, the State Bar of
Georgia, and the Georgia
Association of Women Lawyers. In
addition, Gail is a Special
Assistant Attorney General who
defends workers' compensation
claims on behalf of Georgia's
Attorney General. Gail is
also a Fellow in the Lawyers
Foundation of Georgia, an honor
that recognizes those lawyers
whose careers demonstrate
outstanding legal abilities
and devotion to their
communities.
